Problems with Internet, any ideas.

almost every time i open Steam or Chrome, my internet seemingly crahes, and i need to restart the router.  I can run steam in offline mode, but once i go online, BOOM the internet crashes.  this has been going on for about 2 weeks now.

other forums on the internet havent been very helpful

Dumb question but are you sure steam is not downloading or updating?

it happens when Steam starts to download on start up

did you try reinstalling steam? and no you wont have to redownload all your games if you move your steam commonapps folder to a seperate location then delete the steam folder. after steam re-downloads move your commonapps back

yeah i reinstalled steam, no difference

Restore your computer to a time before this started?

Are you loosing internet on all devices?

If yes then it might be a problem with your router/modem otherwise it might be a problem with your operating system, any futher configurations or at least your drivers.

Have you tried to reproduce this error on a different machine or at least on another OS (e.g: Linux LiveCD).
